The waking to the winter’s light
As fear drowns out the people’s eyes.
The men and boys prepare to fight
And lose themselves in all goodbyes.
Anxiety creeps in silent and slow
On the ship where tensions rise.
Every soul onboard to woe
As all courage and valor dies.
The arrival to the muddy fields,
The sight of enemy succeeds to stun.
Sharpen the swords and polish the shields
For nothing but the war has begun.
