You Don't Know Me At All

Your words, they hurt- my face is stone
Surrounded, yet I’m all alone
Walls built up, that’s my trick
You tear them down, brick by brick
Darkness, loneliness -those I can bear
But your stinging words just seem unfair
The things you say, they scar my skin
And fuel the fire burning within
I could change myself, and lose myself…
But that still won’t impress you
You have no respect for me
And so now I’ll address you:
You don’t know me
You think you know me
You don’t know where I’ve been- the things I’ve seen
What I can handle, what I can’t, and everything in between
As far as I know – as far as I can recall
You don’t know me at all
