Excellence Award in the 'Write As Rain 2014' competition
Two visitors from outer space,
beamed down upon this earthly place,
I welcomed them with open arms,
while blocking out the UFO alarms.
"Welcome to Earth!" I kindly said,
Their expressions were as heavy as lead,
"And just so we can make this clear,
I'll tell you what you will be expecting here.
The alarms you hear with your big ears,
Are very loud as you can hears,
Racism, hurt and guns as you see,
Will be a popular sight here, I hope you will agree.
This world is a mess,
full of blood and shame.
Life is just one big survival game."
The aliens ran and jumped in their ship,
They flew off, yet, abandoning their trip.
This planet oozes with the despair of man.
But I just smiled and waved, because being happy, I can!
