You And I

I’ll tell you a secret you cannot share,
I’ll give you a breath without any air,
I’ll give you a wave; the tiniest smile,
I’ll give you a minute; I’ll give you a while,
I’ve given you today; I’ve given you tomorrow,
I’ve given you dismay, I’ve given you sorrow,
I do not know what else to do,
To make you like me, to make me like you,

We once were an inseparable pair,
With nothing to hide, and all to share,
But now it’s different, now it’s changed,
To each other, completely estranged,
I’ve given you my fears; I’ve made us both stronger,
I’ve given you years; I’ve given us longer,
I’ve given you anger, I’ve given you blame,
Because we two people are one and the same.
