All I remember are the golden headlights
Your final screams linger around my ears
The question 'why?' nibbles at my thoughts
What were they thinking
How could they just leave you there
Did fear consume them
my screams ring out to passing cars
'Stop'
I only knew you for a few minutes
Just casual talk
But it seems like I knew you forever
The ambulance lights engulf the darkness
You took your final breaths in my arms
They said there was nothing I could have done
'he's passed'
I felt lost and sick
I couldn't help but gasp
I wanted to cry out
And it breaks my heart
That you were just doing your job
And yet you paid the price
You can't buy a life
But I love you
So i will let you rest
