I am empty like the soulless night sky
When the stars and the moon in defeat decide
That their guiding light is ever too feeble
To heal this planet’s merciless people.
I am empty like the stomach of a teenager
Once a radiant glow of sunshine in stormy weather
Now a hollow shell, unable to keep down her dinner
And all this because they said she should be thinner.
I am empty like the mind of a student
Words frozen standing before cruel humans
The laughter and jeers do not reach his ears
Lost is the battle with his deepest fears.
I am empty like the eyes of a child
Who’s only wish was to live, be with the tide
But instead his feet hang limply in the air
Swaying above the shape of a fallen chair.
