It was the 25th of April on the coast of Gallipoli,
in the year of 1915, long before you and me.
Through courage, mateship and sacrifice, the ANZAC legends were born.
That was 99 years ago on the Peninsula shore at dawn.
Courageous men sacrificed everything, even their lives; they left behind their homes, families and wives.
That's not all they left behind that fateful day.
When they wrongfully landed, in that small but treacherous bay.
They also left behind a legacy, which has meaning and relevance.
Not only to Australia, but also New Zealand, Brattain and France.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corporation.
These brave men helped to shape the identity of our great nation.
Pride taken in the ANZAC name, still endures to this very day.
And in a moments silents as we remember the Anzac, our hearts yearn to say, LEST WE FORGET.
