There is no hiding place like that of a book,
for while I was there I mistook.
A heroine's reflection for my own.
My simple chair now a gilded throne.
And in the silence, laughter sings
and from page to page, sweet whisperings
of goblins and ghouls,
and witches of old.
Timeless treasures and stories untold.
When someone cries, they become a metaphor
and people curl themselves around this folklore.
Until they become the tales
told in between the lines,
and with these personas my soul entwines
as I turn the final page.
