When one looks through the living room window
They are filled with a sense of time and place
Through a distant daydream and glary glow
A fleeting world they will attempt to chase
A tall, technicolour moving picture
As far as the curious eye can see
Yet a single living, breathing creature
May be all that the world will ever be
The transparent box provides an escape
To a snapshot of someone else’s life
It plays like a dusty videotape
By painting peace, love, happiness or strife
A window snug within a wrinkled wall
Revealing so much, yet nothing at all
