Excellence Award in the 'The Text Generation 2014' competition
The sun could no longer be seen
The darkness swallowing the light
The sky engulfed in flames
As the plumes of smoke took flight
I saw them huddled in the darkness
Not knowing where to go
They were paralysed with fear
As they watched the fire grow
Flickering flames of fury
Fanned by a frantic breeze
Rampant tortuous tongues of fire
Avidly lick at the trees
With a deafening rush the raging inferno Famishes forest and farm Till the world is blackened, barren and bleak And once again the world is calm.
