Glistening spider webs hung in the icy air,
Early morning dew still freshly caught while
The fog ghosted silently over freezing grass.
Wet, fat drops of water shook silently from trees
As hands rubbed numbly together
Restlessly trying to wipe the cold from frozen fingertips.
Mist rolled from the lake and river, side by side,
East wind whispering about the snowy mountains.
Refined frost glued to a windows glaring icily out.
Silky cocoons spun in silvery tears of hail
Oscillating caterpillar’s trap now solid water.
Opal colours tinging the horizon
No one outside now, the colours of winter.
