The ancient binding invites the reader on a journey which invigorates the senses.
The frayed edges and smell of mould and must.
The faded gold lettering, long illegible.
The illustrations depicting battles with no side reigning victorious.
The memories conjured from its pages.
A thumb print and a coffee stain on page 200.
A tear on the corner of page 574.
And, on the last page, the words
'To my love'.
Merely a ghost of the past.
