A Monster In My Closet?

Excellence Award in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition

"There's a monster in my closet!" I told my mum,
"And I must sleep in your room or out he will come!"
"He'll squish me and squash me!" I told my dad
"If I don't sleep in your room I won't be glad!"
"You're being delusional," my dad said
"Don't let nasty thoughts get into your head!"
"Your father is right," added my mum
"No need to sleep in our bed tonight hun"
and down the hall went my mum, disappearing of sight
my dad soon followed after again saying goodnight
so I lay down in bed, thinking for a while
was the monster a snake? Or perhaps a crocodile?
So I thought until I could not wait anymore
I was checking my closet, just to be sure
I crept out of bed and flipped on the `light
and walked to the closet, full of fright
I opened the door, and what did i see?
staring up at me was my little sister Bethany!
She giggled before going and running to her room
and I sighed and went to bed, and fell asleep soon
