The day had come to bid farewell,
I could not help but shed a tear.
Our friendship was long and trusting,
Together we were friends, we had no fear.
We did everything together,
Rode bikes across town, swam in the lake
Made cubby houses, pulled them down,
But now that has to stop, he is lost, in the wake.
Some days we would think he was still here,
He is as real as the person next to us.
Yet we seem to awake from this warm feeling
To a world of sorrow and sadness.
Ten years have passed on by
Ten years trying to cope.
We have learnt to look to the future
We have learnt to hope.
