Finalist in the 'The Write Track 2015' competition
Let's honour those men that fought in that war
Without their sacrifice our lives wouldn't be so carefree.
So young and brave for such brutality
In a war they knew little about until it was too late to go back.
They were supposed to land on Brighton beach
instead they offloaded on the rugged cliffs
of Sulva Bay
They fought for their lives and their Country.
They lived off Bully Beef and Jam, from the tins they made bombs,ready to attack
With Rifles and Guns loaded always
they battled on no matter what, with men falling everywhere.
The war was not won, but eventually they sailed, leaving their mates forever on that ground
Let's honour those men...
