The humble rose puts forth a thorn,
And harms everyone with its daring horn.
The proud sunflower always faces the sun,
And the light will harm the eye of anyone.
The extraordinary lavender is quite a something,
But its fragrance is too overwhelming.
The pale bluebell dangles and lies low,
Yet there's poison in its vines that flow.
The fragile dandelion will tell you the time,
Yet it's itchy and does not chime.
And the friendly daisy's white and yellow,
But beware: there'll be bees coming to say hello.
But of the purest colour is the lily white,
No harm or poison we shall find in its delight.
In the darkness like a bulb it will glow,
Like a ghost, along the banks it will flow.
