I Remember A Time

I remember a time when my children ran free
In harmony with Mother Nature, the birds and the trees
The earth's shrouded mountains stood as solid walls
Until they came in large numbers to take from us all

I remember a time when I spoke of the Dream
A time when the sea's crystals would glitter and gleam
The waves would gently lap, upon the peaceful shore
But that time is gone now, a time that I adored

I remember a time when we weren't given a say
We were discarded, an annoyance, just thrown away
A time when every person's voice should've been heard
And not considered to be stupid, uneducated or absurd

I now live in a time, that is right, that is fair
A time where every person is treated with care
Where no one judges people because of their culture, belief or race
I couldn't be happier, as an Australian, with a smile on my face.
