As the kangaroos are bouncing along
I am singing this ballad song
And as a mother feeds her joey
Grandma is sitting here doing her sewing
When mum shouts they disappear
But one little joey is watching with fear
I get some milk and fill a cup
Then I go and pick him up
As I feed him some warm milk
His fur feels as soft as silk
Then I lay him on a sack
And decide that I will call him Jack
Then his mother comes up the road
Hopping just like a toad
To Jack I go and say goodbye
And then he lets out a great big sigh
As he jumps off I shed a tear
Because soon he will disappear
As they go down the track
I smile and he smiles back
