Lest We Forget

War, War ruins us.
It takes away our loved ones lives.
Leaving us with a hole cut with knives.
Nothing good comes out of it, just loss and bloodshed.
Leaving us to grieve for all those dead.
It's not fair for the many that have died.
Some so young, that they had even lied.
But we remember them through the red poppy flowers.
Through the tall, dedication towers.
We remember all the lives lost.
All the soldiers, they knew the cost.
But still they fought and fought.
And we give them the respect that they surely have sought.
To others, it may just be yet another engraved stone in the sand.
But we know them as the men that defended our land.
To the brave soldiers of Gallipoli, we are in your debt.
Being so, to you we say, 'Lest We Forget.'
