Something floats towards me
Like a wraith searching for it’s next victim
As random as a wisp of cloud
This octopus of a creature wraps its sticky tentacles around me
Gripping my body, stealing my breath, filling me with despair
My chest shakes, my stomach churns
Pounding, pounding, pounding
This monster in my head stops me in my tracks
Unexpected
I am unprepared. I am alone
As my secret nightmare, this demon’s been sent out to haunt me
Relentless, like violent waves crashing against fragile rock
Coming, coming, coming
But I will come out as the winner
I will conquer this secret fear
This villain. Anxiety.
