Rowing

As we slowly row up to the start of the race
The coxen calls to keep up the good pace
I copy the movements of the stoke ahead
And watch quietly as the adrenalin spreads.

I watch the water slowly dance
Making me think how we might have a chance
It’s as though we have been training for the Olympics
But really it’s just the state championships
