A black and white figure gracefully drifting through the gentle water
The harsh yellow rays of the sun reflecting into the calm lake
A large beak-like shape appears and dives for its prey
Unsuspecting innocent tadpoles, get swooped up into a pink pouch
Large flocks herd a school of fish and in their stomachs
A pelican eyes a stray fishing line
And without thinking, catches it through its beak
It chokes and struggles to breathe
Then, no movement, a limp lifeless body lies within the land.
Others gather to see their dear friend dead
In the distance a family of pelicans including, a mother and two babies
What they don’t know is, that their father has now passed away
How this happened, careless humans leave garbage lying around
Don’t know what this does to our beloved creatures
So please, think before you do anything regretful
Save creatures that make our world complete.
