I Am Or Am I

I am helpful yet helpless.
I see the creation of destruction, and the destruction of creation.
I commend our noble intentions, but wonder if our intelligence is mistaken.
I hear cries of suffering, yet heard as whispers.
I see rife recession return, shouldered by raging revolution.
I see the starving neglectfully forgotten, then gluttony remembered.
I witness greed infectiously engulf, and the selfless diminish.
I am helpful yet helpless.
I admire what's written, but fear the writers.
I feel affirmation in faith, but sympathy for the short-sighted sinners.
I worry for what our future holds, if it holds together.
I cry for equality, but human nature provokes inequality.
I witness humanity's future forsaken; with every heedless sinful swing.
I hear indefensible excuses, but some actions are inexcusable.
I pray for guidance; for of thought you can never be deprived.
I am helpful, yet am I helpless?
