Hoping this won’t be their final farewell,
Eyes are full of tears as they wave goodbye,
Oblivious of the unbearable task ahead,
The devastation and destruction of war.
The daunting task quickly becomes reality,
Missing their families dearly,
Desperately trying to communicate with them, Acknowledging the definition of war.
They finally accept the truth,
As the boat arrives,
Some reunite with loved ones,
Others left with a hole in their heart.
We all respect the bravery of the ANZACs,
Although some aren’t in our midst,
Their beloved memories will never fade away, Lest we forget.
