A crack of thunder shatters the evening serenity,
Pink and Grey Galahs fly, screeching, from their branches.
A Southern Grey lays preening herself of fleas hereditary,
Across the sky on the horizon, lightning flashes in great arches.
The dark rage of a thunderstorm looms ominously in the distance,
A lonely rider draws reign by the stables as the wind howls.
His Kelpie dog lets a bark escape his throat with hearty insistence,
For he enjoys pushing the sheep into the yards, sharp teeth set in mighty jowls.
