Wrinkled hands grip tight?
to the cane that guides his way,?
the wood that leads him?
down a path of potholes and pitfalls?
and curiosity.?
Constricted pupils regard a fog?
that blankets a forest of memory,?
obscures the old tangles and ?
rotten undergrowth and sodden moss?
to see a new beginning.?
Cracked leather creaks as?
ancient feet scratch and slide across?
crumbling bricks, curling toes?
gripping to rusted edges as if?
it’s the only thing left that matters.
