Just before I lay my head
I pray that nothing will get me in bed
I read to help me sleep, but still doesn’t stop me
From hearing my mother’s weep
Sometimes I listen to tunes and cry
For the song has touched my heart
But while my brother plays, I will not listen
For he plays great guitar
Sometimes I’ll write
Like I did tonight
That’s how I wrote this poem
From me rhyming at night
So just before I lay my head
I think about the past
What would’ve happened instead …?
