Golden Being

Excellence Award in the 'Read Write Repeat 2015' competition

My eyes opened, I looked around. “Where am I?” I asked myself. I was on a cloud...but how? “Is it really you?” A deep voice asked. I looked behind me
and saw a human-like lion. “What are you?” I asked in a high, scared voice. He took hold of my shirt and started dragging me somewhere. “Where am I?!” I yelled. “Shhh,” the mythical looking being replied. He took me to an arena with a pedestal in the centre. “Sorry to alarm you, sir,” he told me. Sir?
Was this guy crazy? “Let me introduce myself,” he said calmly. “My name is Liam,” he exclaimed. His golden fur shined in the sun. “Now tell me where I
am, Liam!” I shouted. I didn’t realise how powerful he looked. No answer. I was confused and dizzy. “Calm down, sir,” Liam replied. He then handed me
some atrocious looking food but I refused to eat it. “You’re an obstinate one,” Liam chuckled. “Stand over there,” Liam told me. I walked over to a little pedestal without hesitation and stood on it. Liam stood on the big pedestal in the centre of the arena. I felt a twitching feeling on my spine.
Liam chanted some words that I could barely hear. Creamy feathered wings started growing out of my back. It was as painful as one million growth
spurts. A shrill screech came out of me. ‘Why was he doing this?’ I thought to myself. A shoot of relief went up my spine as the pain all stopped. “It is done,” Liam exclaimed. I then realised I had enormous wings. ‘What was happening?’ I thought to myself. “Fly,” Liam said enthusiastically. “I don’t
know how,” I told Liam. “Just fly,” he replied. I flapped my enormous wings and a burst of wind went through the air. I…I…I was flying, it was absolutely unbelievable. “You did it!” Liam said. I was still confused without an explanation. "It's really you!" Liam exclaimed. Before I tried questioning Liam, I was flying...higher...higher. I couldn't stop! "Come
down!" Liam shouted. But…I couldn't, I kept going higher and higher. I finally stopped flying. I then realised I was falling...faster...faster.
"NOOOOO!" Liam yelled. ‘My story was about to end’ I thought. As I awaited my death, I came to a sudden stop. ‘What was it?’ I thought to myself. It was Liam, I was so focused about MY wings I didn’t realise Liam grew them too. I shouted happily causing Liam to…drop me. “Noooooo” I cried. I was
falling once again. This time I wasn’t going to be saved. Three thousand flashbacks went through my mind. I closed my eyes awaiting my death.
A massive amount of impact shot through me. No dream, no joke…my story…my life…gone. The end
