Bags stowed. Seatbelts fastened.
I tug at the belt to ensure it will hold me tight.
Beads of sweat accumulate on my brow.
I cutch the armrests until my knuckles turn white,
While the deafening screech of the wheels vibrate through my seat.
In. Out. In. Out.
I desperately try to steady my breathing as the
glistening runway disappears before my very eyes.
As the pressure builds up in my head
I frantically try to expel the terrible throbbing through my ears.
Up. Up. Up.
With eyes clenched tight my stomach begins a continuous summersault.
Everything spins as I turn to look at the other passengers with their arms raised wearily in the air.
Not a moment too soon our carriage comes to an abrupt halt and I sigh with relief as the ride is over.
