The ferns dance under the moonlight, to a heavy, steady beat.
The dew wriggles in the moss,
as the moon casts shadows over the blanket of bright green.
The trees sway slowly in the lonely breeze, the birds perch for an evening tune.
The stars twinkle ever so bright,
like glow worms illuminating the darkness of a cave.
The sea’s waves toss and turn, to the white-wash ripples on the sand.
The children’s footprints left from a day of laughter,
disappear as if never really there.
Now it is time to go inside, the old wooden door is beckoning me to bed.
Good night today,
I’ll miss you tomorrow.
But when the powerful blazing sun wakes, and brings with it a new day,
I will walk again through the old wooden door,
ready for the beauty the new day will hold for me.
