I woke up in the bitter cold,
And this is my story and it’s here to be told.
I was alone in the nurse’s room and I knew that now was my chance,
I looked at the scissors, it was only just a glance.
I picked them up and placed them against my hair,
My long locks would no longer be there.
I cut off my last curl,
And no one longer knew I was a girl.
I walked out and was ready to sign in,
This was my war and I was here to win.
