Captain Thunderbolt was he
Proud Black Mary both ancestors thee
Hard times in Australia back there I see
Frederick Ward escaped Cockatoo Island to be free
Gentleman bushranger they said
So poor he had to rob for his families bread
His soul burning red
Believing all must be fed
Many back then lived poor
On horseback he roamed the countryside
Often slept on a hardwood floor
In corrupt authorities he could not confide
Legends have faded into the past
In our hearts his legacy will last
