The tree hangs silently in the distance
Blood dripping down the tips of its pointed leaves
‘Snap’ the sound alerts his eardrums again
Sending streams of sweat down his sleeves
He gazes upwards, to find yet again
A lifeless piece of flesh hanging on a thread
His heartbeat picks up as he faces the horizon
Limping to one side, he turns his head
The jarring pain stabs in his leg
And the vision around him suddenly dull
His senses are lost, his hands are numb
With sleepless eyes sunken into his skull
His filthy body drooling in blood
The unpleasant feeling carves deep into his soul
He stares up once more into the light
To reach out for his unfinished goal
