Excellence Award in the 'Read Write Repeat 2015' competition

As we look down on this peaceful day,
My heart, so joyfully begins to play
A warming tune filling all desire,
To somehow lift spirits higher.
The poppies sway around their grave,
Of the ones who were truthful, the ones who were brave.
They died for us, they died for all,
They died so our country would not fall.
We have a day to remember,
The brave ones in November.
If only we’d say we don't want more,
Of this unforgiving, childish war.
