A Better Tomorrow

I am a man
I am running through the unknown
I am expected to kill people
I am afraid and I feel alone
This is meant to feel heroic
I am meant to keep on going
But my body aches and I feel tired
And I think my guilt is showing
I don’t want to kill anymore
Please let this murder end
I am not a bad person
I am a husband, a father, a friend
But still I run past empty bodies
Feeling their hurt and their sorrow
I want this to stop for good
I will hope for a better tomorrow
