Would you want your brother killed in a war?
Or sister nursing those that fall?
Your Mother witnessing an unpredictable attack?
Or your fathers movement completely lacked?
Imagine marching out there on the field,
And being one of the many soldiers tragically killed.
Your feet affected in the tight squeezed tranches,
And body's lying like trees dropping branches.
The heat from the sun, draining energy to fight,
While a bullet injects your chest and your head gets quite light.
Your watery eyes, tilt to the dry sand as time lapsed,
Where a poppy lies close, injured, covered in blood perhaps.
We tilt our hat for these brave, heroic soldiers and what they have done,
To protect our generation including our young.
Respect goes to all that fought and suffered at war, and who helped defend,
As we will always remember and honour the word 'amen'.
