An orange sunset sky
Dripped caramel tears,
Flooding the green ocean and
Consuming it in ochre waves.
Brown eyes of a foreign child
Haunted by the horrors
Of ferocious Arabian nights
Held the sun’s glare in their pupils.
The hot wind carried nought
But muffled echoes
Of a lost mother’s voice
That never reached her child’s ears,
And as the golden brown horizon
Was torn apart by velvet's blue claws,
The brown eyes sought the stars
And gave them her parents’ faces.
