The Fall Of Srebrenica

Fall silent! They told us, once the fire tamed. Why? We asked, the smoke won't hide the ashes of your dignity. The dead will not come back, they will not live again, they told us, fall silent! Why did you let them down? We asked. It's time to move on, they told us. Fall silent!Don't you hear the silence? We asked. The roads that led to death, the ones men and boys were drive down, with a bullet in their back, with their face on the ground. The rivers made of blood, where the dead were laid to rest. The homes that became hell, for the victims of rape.Silence like a blanket covers these places, so silent you know there is a secret. It is strange, you know, you are wrong, we told them, we are silent in voice, but our tears scream your secrets, and within those tears the dead live, in our hearts, in our minds,
and for them we will never forget, for the country that is ours and still standing,
for the men, women and children who have fallen, we will never fall silent!
And when the time comes that a pair of eyes, skim my words, I wish for them to read through my heart, and feel the sorrow within it,for their bodies have been drained with fear just before their blood, for the tears in my eyes never seem to run out,For their silent deaths that are YET to be recognised,
Don't read in silence, just not in silence,
at least for the day when all you could hear was death,at least for the day where there was no silence.
