We Are One

Step outside, breathe in fresh air
Look at the trees, hear the birds cry
Cars driving without a care
They don’t seem to hear the earth sigh
Buildings keep getting taller
The rich can continue buying
But the Arctic is smaller
And the polar bears are dying
Suicide rates are rising
And young girls obsess on the scales
Smart animals come surprising
When there are so many; apes, whales
Nature and humans are one
But along the line it went askew
To undo the damage done
We must realise; we are not two.
