Excellence Award in the 'Top Secret 2016' competition

We left in high spirits, on a crisp winters day,
The sun shining faint in the clouds,
We were everything to each other, mates all,
Born and raised in our sheltered glade,

And we traipsed our way through the wilderness,
Till we made our way out on the plains,
And found ourselves finally here,
Out in the world, with our future all clear,

And over the years as we fought and we grew,
As friends and as people together,
We yet we're still slowly losing each other,
As reality tore us apart.

Our solace, our peace and our friendship,
Was taken from us at a stroke,
As our party was broken to pieces,
By our cruel and malicious small world.
