Pleasant warm days,
Games in the sun,
Days that know of nothing but fun,
The calm wavy water that sings with delight,
The seagulls that give the children a fright,
The drip of cold ice cream running down my arm,
The sunscreen protecting my skin from harm
The softness of sand under my feet and
The sky and water waiting to meet,
As the light becomes low
And the sky turns pink,
We pack away the rubbish and I sip my cool drink
We sit on the blanket watching the stars and
Imagine we can see the faraway Mars,
We jump in the car and strap ourselves in,
But soon we let our sleep drift in.
