How a strange wonder it is to hear
Unknowing to the despair it brings when the sound, echoing through your mind and world
Your freedom, your independence
Is extinguished, and stolen
Like snatching away a candle’s flame, all you have, forever and always
Once you’ve had a taste of this drug, you’re addicted
There is no greater pleasure than the voice
You mindlessly tune out the world
A chorus of violinists reminding you of your miniscule compromise with life
Attempting to impact an unbreakable silence, the bane of existence is existence
But a voice guides you through
Because you shall seek no greater prize
Than what you never appreciated and never truly knew
How important it was to you
