You Were Never There

She could never rely on you, every day she told herself that you would never leave,
She told herself that if she just believed that everything will be okay than it would be,
Every night she laid in bed hoping that the next day will be the day you came home,
Every day she had the same disappointment, you never came home.
She knows why you left, she just doesn’t understand why you never came back,
That smile she always had on her face, it was never real but she would never let anyone know,
A day didn’t go by where she didn’t think about you, wondering if it was her fault,
You weren’t there for her year 9 formal, she had made it and you weren’t there to be proud of her.
Her holiday wasn’t the same, you weren’t there, her family holiday wasn’t complete without you,
All those times when her great grandma had been in hospital, she needed you but you weren’t there.
She thought she could get through it all alone, but sometimes it gets too hard and she just breaks down,
Knowing you won’t be there for her deb,
Knowing you won’t be there to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.
Those thoughts will always be in her head, those two special days and she doesn’t get to share it with you.


Sometimes a girl cant even rely on her dad.
