Scarred For Life

The bodies of the dead fall mercilessly to the ground
Lost to the ones they loved
Forever gone and never to be found
Spirits float to the sky above.

The ones still standing continue to fight
Sacrificed for a better world
Trying to make their country right
In the commotion bombs are hurled
The battle eventually comes to an end
The living walk away forever scarred
The dead litter the land
Their lives broken like millions of jagged shards.
