Music Rooms

I walk through the corridors one quiet afternoon,
A girl plays the piano, and sings a peaceful tune.
The orchestra rehearses, the flutes play high and sweet;
The rhythm of their song matches the rhythm of my feet.
Little children shriek and squeal on violins they play,
But the teacher smiles and watches - they'll be musicians one day.
I pass an older student, and pause to say hello,
But her head is in her music, with no time to stop or slow.
I walk through the corridors that quiet afternoon;
The orchestra is playing - I think I'll join them soon.
