All hope was lost
Their families got the toss
The ship is rocking
Tables tossing
Going to a land far and wide
Without their families by their side
Some stole a nickel
And others a dime
When they came they waited for a job
While the crying sound was a deafening sob
Crying, minding, cooking
While their masters are looking
This is their new life in a land far and wide
To this day we call them convicts.
