Dark alleyway, not a sound,
as sneaky footsteps touch the ground.
From outside inward it’ll peer
to make sure that the coast is clear.
The chance to snatch and take a piece
of someone else’s golden fleece.
In an’ out of shadows the figure creeps,
hidden by darkness from where it peeps.
An opportunist on the brink of pounce,
the four legged burglar enters unannounced.
In and out, quick as a flash,
back to alley, mouth full of stash.
The morning begins to raise its head.
Through cat flap, climb of stairs, to foot of bed.
She curls and purrs and licks her paws,
our innocent tabby never wonders outdoors.
