Their breath steamed against their masks,
Stale and strained from a lifetime of seeking
For a diamond in the darkness.
Soil stained the air,
Circulating and suffocating their gloves
As they fumbled for a fortune with their axes.
And the earth grumbled in gripe
As they pounded craters: Their form of art,
To the only music they recognised:
To the melody of their hearts.
