When I feel bad for what I say
I remember my mum wasn't always this way.
She is my mum and used to be
A woman who cared, quite thoroughly.
To see her say things out of sort
My heart goes out and is saddened
By the very thought.
She is old and she knows that
It's very frightening to wear her hat.
I try to start fresh each day
And make her feel she's not in the way.
I smile and smile, it usually works
I never argue
And I agree with all her quirks.
She is the only mum, I've ever had
So I'll love her dearly and won't be sad.
