James And The Big Surprise

Late one afternoon, James was walking to the bus stop from school. He was feeling sad as none of his friends remembered his birthday. It started raining and James had forgotten his umbrella, he was getting soaked. There was water dripping down his face. “This is the worst birthday ever”, he thought to himself.

He was hoping the bus stop was under cover, but someone had smashed it with rocks. So he kept getting wet. He waited for ten minutes for the bus to arrive.

On the way home he looked out the bus window and saw a big birthday cake in the bakery shop window, again he felt sad. He thought about his friends at school and about him not having a party this year, so there would be no cake. He tried to think of something happy. He thought about his mum and dad, and his presents he’d be opening after school. The bus pulled up at his bus stop. Finally, it was his turn to get off. He ran out of the bus and all the way home.

He tried to open the door but it was locked. Then he remembered the keys were under the mat. He got the keys from under the mat and opened the door. "Mum! Dad! I’m home!” he shouted. There was no answer. He was shaking in fear, what if they had been kidnapped! He ran to his room, he pulled the blanket over his head just in case the kidnapper was still there. Then he thought what if they have forgotten my birthday too! He got off his bed and started to walk around the house, shouting "Mum! Dad!". There was nothing! He went out to the garden, and all of a sudden from nowhere there was such a loud shout "SURPRISE!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" It was all of his family and friends. They hadn’t forgotten his birthday, they were all a part of the big surprise; A BIG surprise party. James ended up having the best birthday ever!
